Institute for Islamic World Futures Studies (IIWFS) and Institute for Political and International Studies (IPIS) are going to hold a joint scientific meeting on "The Environmental Crises in the West Asia".

The meeting will be held on 10 October 2017 at IIWFS conference hall. The main Speakers are:

A delegation from the Finnish CMI Institute visiting the Institute for Islamic World Future Studies (IIWFS)


On Wednesday, 8 September 2017, a three-member delegation from the Finnish CMI Institute, met with the director of the institute and a group of researchers at the Institute. In this session, while describing the activities and achievements of the Institute for Islamic World Future Studies (IIWFS) and that of CMI, the capacities of the two sides for future joint cooperation were discussed. Ms. Tuija Talvitie, Executive Director, Mr. Ville Brumer, Program Director, and Mr. Maruan El-Krekshi, the director of Middle East Program, attended the session. The participants of the meeting presented their views on the Middle East crisis and its roots, as well as the context for peace talks in the region.



The CMI Institute in Finland is one of the most prominent European institutions for peace talks, and its founder is Martti Atissari, who was the former Finnish president and the winner of the 2008 Nobel Peace Prize.

According to the common cooperation and in order to develop and deepen scientific, cultural and research communication, also information and experiences exchanges and better use of existing capabilities and capacities a scientific, cultural and research cooperation memorandum between Institute for Islamic World Futures Studies and Islamic Culture and Relations Organization was signed by Dr. Seyed Yahya Safavi (president of IIWFS) and Dr. Abozar Ebrahimi Torkaman (head of Islamic Culture and Relations Organization) at the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization.

In the meeting of scientific and executive committee, the deadline for abstract submission extended to 9 June 2016. 

The meeting of policy making council took place with the participation of Dr. Seyed Yahya Safavi president of the Institute for Islamic World Futures Studies (IIWFS) and secretary of the ICGCIW, Dr. Mohammad Reza Hafeznia scientific secretary of ICGCIW, Dr. Seyed Hamzeh Safavi executive secretary of ICGCIW, Dr. Jamile Tavakoli Nia dean of Faculty of Earth Sciences of Shahid Beheshti University, Dr. Elahe Kolaee the head of Regional Studies department in the University of Tehran and professors of geographic sciences, political sciences and international relations at the IIWFS.

Geopolitical crisis is the result of conflicts and tensions between countries, political-spatial groups and political actors to control one or more values or geographical factors. Crises have different sources and types, which functionally lead the system to an imbalanced state and can disrupt the normal situations, spatial-geographical process and habitat for humanity.
